About Mother Kate’s Early Learning Centre
Nestled in the heart of Wondai, Queensland, Mother Kate’s Early Learning Centre is a 63-place, purpose-built facility that has proudly served the Darling Downs region since 2008. About the Opportunity
Mother Kate’s Early Learning Centre is looking for a permanent part-time Assistant Director based in Wondai, QLD.
This role reports to the Centre Director and will be pivotal in mentoring staff, supporting day-to-day operations, and contributing to a high-quality learning environment.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Centre Director in managing daily operations and compliance
- Leading and mentoring educators to improve practice and professional standards
- Overseeing and enhancing the educational program and curriculum
- Supporting staff in developing inclusive practices for all children
- Engaging in critical reflection and continuous improvement across the service
- Providing hands-on support in both contact and non-contact time
- Upholding policies, procedures, and licensing requirements during the Director's absence
- Building strong relationships with families and community stakeholders
- Coordinating staffing, rosters, and compliance with child-staff ratios
- Providing leadership in emergency or high-stress situations
- Maintaining accurate administrative and financial documentation as delegated
- Participating in professional development, training and out-of-hours meetings
About You
You’ll need to hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or higher), along with a valid Blue Card / Working with Children Check, and some experience in a leadership-style role - maybe as a Senior Educator, Educational Leader, or Assistant Director.
If you’ve stepped up to support your Director before, or love mentoring others and improving team culture, this could be your perfect next move.
We’ll also value the following:
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training
- Child Protection Training
- A working knowledge of the National Quality Framework
- Some confidence with rostering, CCS, or service admin tasks (we’ll support you!)
- Experience working in a regional service or tight-knit team

About the Benefits
Compensation is a competitive hourly rate starting from $37/hr, which includes your Educational Leader allowance and reflects approximately $2/hr above the award rate, depending on your experience and qualifications.
